Scout Shawl: German
This is the German translation of the Scout Shawl pattern.
Scout is an intricate, pattern-filled shawl inspired by the pieced-together aesthetic of vintage quilts. A dream project for colourwork lovers, Scout’s patchwork effect is achieved by mixing Fair Isle and intarsia knitting throughout. Knitted sideways from tip-to-tip, the easy-to-wear shape and size of the shawl is designed to display maximum detail as it drapes over the shoulders.
Yarn
The pattern uses five colours (C1-C5) of fingering weight yarn.
The sample was knitted with:
The Wandering Flock Fingering Singles in 'Rose Gold' for C1 and Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in 'Sugar Coat' for C2, 'Librarian's Dreams' for C3, 'Joshua Tree' for C4, 'Rocinante' for C5.
To help achieve a similar colour-effect to the sample, use these guidelines when creating your own palette:
C2 – choose a light neutral (e.g. white, cream, beige, grey, etc.)
C1 and C5 – choose a lighter and darker tone in the same colour family (e.g. lighter pink for C1, and darker pink for C5).
C3 and C4 – choose a lighter and darker tone in the same colour family that contrasts with C1 and C5 (e.g. lighter green for C3, and darker green for C4).
Use the schematic to further check how the colours will be paired together.

Gauge
-
28 sts and 30 rows = 10cm/4" in Fair Isle pattern after blocking. (I suggest using Chart 6 to knit a gauge swatch 13 x 13cm/ 5 x 5” or larger to determine your gauge.)
Always use a needle size that achieves the correct gauge.
