Combining Fair Isle & Intarsia: Scout Shawl - April 30th

| /

A 2-hour group class with Florence Spurling taught virtually via Zoom.

In this colourwork focused class, students will explore the key techniques that are used within the Scout Shawl pattern. The main differences between Fair Isle and intarsia will be explored, as well as advice on working with multiple yarns at the same time, and how to achieve a professional looking finish when transitioning between pattern blocks. Students will work on a practice swatch utilizing these techniques together (using a specifically designed chart provided by Florence). Upon completion of this class, students will be able to tackle other projects that feature flat Fair Isle knitting and intarsia with confidence.

  • Class Level: No experience in the intarsia method is needed, but it is recommended to have some (very basic) experience with Fair Isle knitting.
  • When: Saturday April 30th 10am to 12pm EST time, 3pm to 5pm UK time.
  • Teacher: Florence Spurling.
  • Materials: 5 colours of fingering weight yarn with the appropriate needle size to achieve gauge.
